Why Do We Feel Emotions?

We all have feelings. Your feelings are valid. It is a normal physical and emotional reaction. When we are happy, the physical reaction is to smile. When we are sad, the physical reaction is to cry. When we are anxious or stressed, the physical reaction can be cortisol release. When we are angry, the physical reaction can be what we call the "Fight or Flight" response. It works by stimulating the heart rate, contracting the blood vessels, and dilating the air passages to increase blood flow to the muscles and oxygen to the lungs. This helps us when there is a physical danger requiring a physical response. But, sometimes our fight or flight response is triggered by emotions and a subconscious or conscious fear of death and not physical danger. When this happens most of us are not aware of what to do with that chemical change.
